Central Market Proposal for Marota City, Damascus
This project presents a contemporary architectural vision for the concept of a central market within the urban fabric of Marota City. It combines commercial functions, public spaces, and an integrated urban experience through a fluid and human-centered design language that reflects the spirit of the city of the future.
The design is based on organic forms and dynamic lines that give the building a distinctive visual identity. Open spaces are carefully introduced to encourage pedestrian movement, social interaction, and community engagement. The surrounding plazas and water features act as natural extensions of the project, creating a vibrant urban environment that balances visual comfort with human experience.
The development includes multi-purpose retail spaces, outdoor seating areas, restaurants, cafés with open views, and accessible green rooftops that serve as public gathering spaces. These elements provide diverse experiences for visitors while enhancing the architectural and environmental value of the project.
Special attention was given to circulation and pedestrian flow to ensure seamless accessibility and strong visual connectivity between the built volumes and the surrounding landscape. Natural lighting and green elements were maximized to create a balanced urban atmosphere where modernity and nature coexist harmoniously.
The project aims to redefine the traditional market concept by transforming it into an interactive urban destination that combines social, commercial, and architectural functions, becoming a landmark within one of Damascus’s most significant contemporary development areas.
